Summed up

After testing and reviewing dozens of cordless, lightweight vacuum cleaners, we have to announce Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute the ultimate stick vacuum.

It has power, efficiency and performance beat those of even most of the high-performing upright vacuums. The suction is incredibly strong, and the battery gives you more than enough runtime. You also get amazing attachments that help you keep even the toughest and most hard to reach places clean.

I'm actually being critical here. It’s the vacuum I have chosen to use in my home. I recently recommended it to my friends and told them that I love my kids, husband, and Dyson V10 – and not always in that order. Haha!

The V10 has just recently been released but already it is getting excellent reviews from users, and it is quickly becoming one of the bestselling stick vacuums on the market.

Sure, it does cost quite a bit more than some of those low-range “electric brooms.” But they shouldn’t even be compared against each other. When you invest in a Dyson stick vacuum, you pay for a long-lasting, high-quality product with superb features and extreme performance. And when it comes to cleaning products, you definitely want ones that are functional and lighten your burden.

If you’re looking for an all-around lightweight stick vacuum to take care of all the cleanups imaginable, you want the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute. It has:

  • Longest runtime
  • Strongest suction
  • High-quality materials
  • Most functional design
  • Best attachments and tools

Enough said.

Is Dyson v10 Cyclone worth the money? –
Let's find out!

Let me be clear about something:

This is not another cheesy sales pitch.
Yes, I will tell you why I love Dyson v10
but ALSO what are its weak points.

PLUS everything else you need to know
when deciding if this is THE RIGHT vacuum for you.

It’s almost perfect, BUT there are a few things you might want to take note of before you decide to buy.

So here goes:

Dyson is known for manufacturing high-quality vacuum cleaners and investing a lot of time in innovative engineering and design.

They aim to improve their products and to find new solutions to ultimately design the best vacuum of all time. It seems they often think out of the box and utilize physics and science to keep making a better product with better design and features.

We love that fact, that again Dyson has heard what consumers have to say, and they have produced a superb vacuum cleaner to make vacuuming as effortless as possible. They try to think about vacuuming in a whole new way, and that is why they are moving towards producing only lightweight cordless appliances.

Who has the time to spend the whole weekend cleaning? Wouldn’t you be rather doing something else with your free time?

For me, this vacuum completely changed how I see vacuuming. Instead of having massive cleaning days a few times a month, I started doing quick vacuuming sessions every day.

When I see some dirt or pet hair on the floor, I give my vacuum a quick spin. I only use up to five minutes every day for vacuuming, but my home is always in tip-top shape – even though I have kids and pets!

These are the key reasons what makes Dyson V10 the best stick vac out there:

Key Features

Longest runtime – Up to 60 minutes of vacuuming

  • Runtime up to 60 minutes
  • Charge time 3.5 hours

The Cyclone V10 is the cordless vacuum with the longest runtime on the market right now. It’s actually pretty impressive, as a strong suction needs a lot of power and eats up the battery quickly.

Dyson v10 on floor

The vacuum has a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery. That’s one cell more than in the V8 which makes the motor run at a higher voltage to create more power. Each cell runs at 25.2 volts and 525 watts which is more than V8’s cells that run at 21.6 volts and 400 watts. There is no added weight though because each of the nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathodes is slightly smaller compared to their previous motor.

However, don’t expect 60 minutes of runtime in all suction modes and with all tools. Because motorized tools need more power, the runtime is shorter.

This chart will give you an idea of what to expect:

Runtime in Suction mode 1

  • Runtime when using a motorized head: 35 minutes
  • Runtime when using without a motorized head: 60 minutes

Runtime in Suction mode 2

  • Runtime when using a motorized head: 20 minutes
  • Runtime when using without a motorized head: 30 minutes

Runtime in the Maximum suction mode

  • Runtime with all tools: 5-6 minutes

The charge time is 3.5 hours for full charge, which is pretty average compared to other cordless vacuums.

However, that’s just numbers. With my personal experience and testing, I can tell you that the battery life is enough for thoroughly cleaning my 2000 square foot house. I vacuum all floors and area rugs, and I dust above floor surfaces with one go.

Also, because it’s so easy to grab to vacuum, I do a little bit of vacuuming every day, and there’s never an overwhelming mess to clean up.

You might think 5 minutes isn’t much time when you’re using the boost mode and a motorized head. However, that’s only for those extremely tough cases when you really need to give a small spot an intensive cleanup – and for that, you don’t need more than five minutes.

Here is how the runtime of the V10 compares to other Dyson stick vacuums:

Dyson V6 V7 V8 V10 runtime comparison

Critics at Wirecutter point out that the optimal runtime is only achieved when using a non-motorized tool and the lowest suction mode. What they don’t mention is that this is true for all other vacuums as well. A motorized tool will, of course, need more battery, but most cordless vacuums don’t even come close to this kind of battery life anyway.

What you need to acknowledge is that the way you use a stick vacuum is not the same. You do small cleanups regularly instead of one massive cleaning session once a month. You don’t need the vacuum to run for hours, because you already have a pretty tidy home.

According to users, depending on the size of their home they mostly use the vacuum with a motorized floor cleaning head for up to 15-20 minutes and another 10 minutes of dusting. When used like this, the runtime is more than enough to finish vacuuming your home in one go.

Most users that give this product a low rating think they have run into problems with the battery, but often that is not true.

Of course, like with any product, there are bound to be a few lemons. However, it seems some of these users are not familiar with how the Dyson works and why.

To protect the motor from overheating, the machine shuts down if there is a blockage and the airflow is obstructed. With my first Dyson vacuum cleaner (V6), I also thought I received a faulty product when this happened for the first time. Usually, it’s just a matter of a lightweight carpet getting sucked up and messing with the brush roll bar or a blockage in the airway that is easily cleared.

Strongest suction

  • Incredibly strong 150AW suction
  • Three power modes
  • Powerful max mode

Out of all the cordless vacuums on the market, the V10 has the strongest suction. The powerful digital V10 motor is the strongest, lightest and strongest motor Dyson has produced, and it creates a fantastic 150AW suction.

Dyson Cyclone V10 runtime

The new in-line design gives the vacuum better airflow, which maximizes the power. The Boost Mode generates 51% more power than the earlier V6/V7 motor and 31% more than the V8. The new design also increases the suction by 20% compared to the V8.

This Dyson vacuum comparison chart will give you an idea of how the Dyson vacuums compare to each other:

Dyson cordless stick vac suction power comparison V6 V7 V8 V10

As you can see the new Cyclone V10 has three suction modes: suction mode 1, suction mode 2 and boost mode.

  • The first mode is meant for light vacuuming jobs like dusting.
  • The second mode is the one you will be using the most, and that is designed for vacuuming floors, area rugs, carpets and such.
  • The third mode is the boost mode which will give you maximum suction. It is excellent for those occasional tough vacuuming jobs that need the extra power. If you were to clean an area rug thoroughly or you have heavier debris like small gravel scattered on the floor, then this mode will do the trick.

The Dyson V10 is often said to replace upright vacuums, but of course, when measured in suction it does not quite reach the air watts some of the professional type uprights do. However, it doesn’t just come down to air watts; it’s the performance that counts.

Our testing and user reviews prove that this vacuum can, in fact, perform as well as bigger corded vacuums.

It is very efficient even on thick carpets and plush fabrics, and in cleaning results, it does compare to a full upright vacuum.

Most functional design

  • Can be used as a handheld vacuum as well
  • Only 5.88 pounds
  • Acoustically engineered
  • Easy to maneuver

The best feature of the Dyson stick vacuums is how easy they are to use. Even a vacuum with the best suction and fancy features will do a lousy job at vacuuming if you leave it in the back of the cleaning cupboard.

Dyson Cyclone v10 has a big dirt cup

The V10 is easy to steer and maneuver, and it quickly turns into a handheld vacuum by detaching the wand.

With the attachments, you can clean everything from floor to ceiling – and your car as well.

It weighs only 5.88 pounds and feels even lighter because of smart weight distribution.

It’s lightweight and acoustically engineered, which makes using it pleasant. The aerodynamic design reduces turbulence and acoustic material absorbs vibrations which is why the new motor is quieter than the previous versions.

It turns on a dime, and everything from attaching the tool to emptying the dirt bin and maintenance of the filter is designed to be quick and effortless.

I hated vacuuming when I had to lug out my bulky upright and keep switching power outlets. Now I feel it’s no big deal to grab the V10, do a quick daily vacuuming, and pop the vacuum back into the charger. Kids and pets do everything in their power to make a mess, but for me changing into a high-performing stick vacuum is what did the trick. Goodbye dust and dirt, hello clean home!

Personally, I find the design almost flawless, but there is one thing that I wish they would re-design. When you empty the dirt bin, you need to detach the wand first. It’s not a big deal, but still a small hick-up. Also, some people find the emptying system a bit sticky at first, but the system will loosen up in use.

Another thing that divides opinions is the is the trigger you need to hold down to keep the power on. Some people find it annoying, although it is very lightweight and you naturally hold your finger on the trigger when holding the vacuum. The idea is never to leave the motor running when the vacuum is idle. Once you get used to it, it’s practical. The vacuum automatically turns off when you put it down to move furniture out of the way, and no battery is wasted.

Testing Dyson v10 suction levels

Filtration

  • Cyclone technology and advanced whole machine filtration
  • Fully sealed filtration traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns
  • Large 0.2-gallon dustbin with point-and-shoot emptying

Dyson Cyclone v10 filtration

The new design allows the motor to spin at up to 125.000 rpm producing 79.000g G-force inside each of the 14 cyclones, which separates the dirt from the air. As the cyclones narrow down the air flow accelerates from 45mph to 120mph creating centrifugal forces powerful enough to fling even pollen and bacteria into the bin.

The cyclone technology is very efficient at filtering out dust before it enters the filter, but the vacuum does have a washable lifetime filter to prevent even the smallest particles from exiting the filtration system.

The airtight gasket around the cyclones and pressurized rubber seal around the advanced filter mean the filtration system is fully sealed preventing any dust, allergens or bacteria from leaking back into the air.

The system traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Because of this advanced filtration system, we would recommend this vacuum to any pet owners on people who suffer from allergies. It’s a great way to control the amount of dander and other allergens in your home.

Another huge improvement is the capacity of the dust bin. The container on the Dyson V10 holds 0.77 liters (0.2 gallons) whereas the previous V8 only had a capacity of 0.53 liters (0.15 gallons). That’s about a 40% increase in the amount of dirt, pet hair and debris this vacuum can hold before you need to empty it.

Also, although we love that fact that there is more vacuuming and less running to the trash can, emptying the container is actually no big deal. The design is a bit different, but the V10 has the same mess-free point-and-shoot emptying system as the V8.

You point the vacuum at the trash can, and the mechanism ejects the contents of the dirt bin. You don’t have to use your fingers to pull out those nasty lumps of hair and dirt because the mechanism pushes everything out. It’s very quick and hygienic.

For maintenance, you need to rinse the filter under cold water every three months and let it dry completely before placing it back. To make sure your vacuum has maximum suction, it is also a good idea to check the brush roll now and then, and also to carefully clean the dirt bin.

Performance

While doing research I bumped into this video, and I decided to link it here as it clearly proofs  how powerful v10 is in action (+ the clip is simply hilarious), take a look:

Amazing, right?

Now: this is how it performs on different surfaces.

Pet Hair Removal

If pet hair is your problem, this vacuum is your solution.

Trust me; I know what I’m talking about. We have two dogs and a cat.

For vacuuming up that pet hair covering your hard floor surfaces, you can use the Soft Roller Head. It picks up all pet hair and dander before it is wafted into the air you breathe.

No mopping is needed because the soft brush roll carefully polishes the floor picking up even the smallest particles.

For the persistent pet hair lodged in your carpets and rugs, you can use The Torque Drive Cleaner Head.

It will dig into the carpet, grab that hair and pull it up for the suction to pull in. And not just hair, dander as well. When I first used this tool, I thought I had clean carpets. I could not believe how much filth it managed to pull out!

Also, for the annoying pet hair covering your furniture, you have the Mini Motorized Tool.

Just run it over your couch, recliner, and bed to say goodbye to that yucky hair. And don’t forget to use it on your mattress. You might be disgusted to see how much dust has collected in the fabric.

With the strong suction and functional attachments, the Dyson V10 is a product every pet owner should have if they want to keep their home clean and free of pet hair and dander.

My friends often ask me how come my home is so clean and I tell them it’s all because of my vacuum.

Carpet

The Torque Drive Cleaner Head is a new addition to the Dyson attachments.

It is said to pick up 25% more dust and dirt than their previous direct drive cleaning head, which – in my opinion – already did a pretty fantastic job.

Dyson Cyclone v10 The Torque Drive Cleaner Head

You can use this tool on all kinds of rugs and carpets, and it gives all of them a thorough cleanup.

If you have owned a low-range stick vacuum, you might think you need a sturdy upright to keep your carpets clean. However, with the advances in Dyson technology, that is not true anymore. Even a stick vacuum can have the power and suction needed to give carpets a full cleanup.

What you do need to take into account is that the runtime depends on the tool and surface you are using the vacuum on.

The battery life is up to 60 minutes, but if you have a very tough spot to clean and your using your Torque Drive Cleaner Head on the boost mode, you might get only 5-6 minutes of runtime.

Some reviews say this is not enough, but my personal experience does not agree. It’s not often that you find yourself using the most robust tool for one spot on the boost mode. At least not for more than seven minutes. Moreover, other vacuums won’t even reach that.

Bare Floors

Tile, laminate, hardwood and other hard floor surfaces get a polished look with the Soft Roller Cleaner Head.

It has a brush roll bar with soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon bristles, that softly but firmly engage the surface picking up all dirt and even fine dust. It leaves hard floors exceptionally clean and let you skip the mopping entirely. The results are far better than with a traditional stiff-bristled brush roll bar.

Dyson Cyclone V10 Soft Roller Cleaning Head

I mostly have light colored vinyl plank flooring at my home, which can be a tough surface to clean. We have a black dog, and you can rest assured his hair, and the dust that collects on our floor won’t go unnoticed.

Although I was pretty happy with how the Dyson V6 I had before cleaned the floor, I was delighted to see the Soft Roller Cleaner Head did even better. I used to mop the floor after vacuuming, but soon I realized there was no point.

The vacuum had already picked up everything, and all I needed to do was to wipe a few random stains my kids had caused with a cleaning cloth.

Above floor cleaning

For above-floor cleaning, you have some pretty great attachments.

Dyson Cyclone V10 Combination tool, Crevice tool, Mini Soft Dusting Brush, Mini-motorized Tool

For furniture and other upholstered items like car seats, you have the Mini Motorized Tool.

It is a powerful motorized brush roll tool designed specifically for the purpose of cleaning fabrics and lifting up hair and dust collected between the fibers. It also gives your mattress a complete cleanup and keeps your carpeted stairs immaculate.

For dusting, you have two tools: Combination Tool and Soft Dusting brush.

You can use these to dust and clean areas like blinds, baseboards, tabletops and delicate objects. I use them on lamp shades, vents, curtains, shelves, baseboards and all other places that collect dust. I even vacuum the tops of my picture frames on the wall. It’s quick and easy because the dust is picked up right away and the nozzle won’t waft the dust into the air like your dusting cloth.

If you have other more specific cleaning needs, you can always buy more add-ons to get the full use out of your investment.

The Multi-Angle Brush Attachment, Extension Hose and Mess-free Grooming Tool are examples of how you can update your Dyson to match your individual needs for vacuuming.

Attachments

What we love about the Dyson vacuums is that they have exceptionally functional and well-designed tools and add-ons.

The six attachments that come with Cyclone V10 add more versatility for above-floor cleaning.

Dyson is actually well known for their innovative and functional tools, which enable you to reach all those tough spots and carefully clean all kinds of surfaces.

Dyson Cyclone V10 Combination tool, Crevice tool, Mini Soft Dusting Brush, Mini-motorized Tool

The Torque Drive Cleaner Head – for carpets (and other surfaces)

The Torque Drive Cleaner Head is Dyson's most powerful cleaning head yet.
It is a motorized brush roll with stiff bristles that dig deep into high-pile carpets to dislodge 25% more dust and dirt than their previous motorized cleaner head.

Dyson Cyclone v10 The Torque Drive Cleaner Head

Because of its powerful motor, this tool uses more power. It can be used for up to 20 minutes continuously in suction mode II. What we love about this cleaning head is its performance. Even thicker high-pile carpets get a thorough clean, and the bristles really dig into the carpet bringing up hair, dust, and debris.

There is one small point of criticism though.

The front of the tool is not open to drive as much suction to the surface as possible. Although this a part of why the tool is so efficient at picking up all that dirt, it does sometimes mean you have to make a few passes on low-pile carpets when vacuuming larger debris like pet food pellets.

You can adjust the cleaning head to either pick up larger debris or to maximize the suction, but you might still need two or three passes for bigger particles. It’s not a huge hickup, but something to take note of.

No matter what type of rugs or carpeting you have, this tool is powerful enough to keep it thoroughly cleaned.

Compared to other brush roll tools on stick vacuums, it is definitely more effective, especially on those plush rugs.

Soft Roller Cleaner Head – for hard floor materials

Soft Roller Cleaner Head is meant to be used on hard floor materials, and it gives them a polished look. It is excellent at meticulously picking up all that fine dust from hardwood, tile, laminate and other surfaces.

Dyson Cyclone V10 Soft Roller Cleaning Head

The soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon bristles softly engage the surface bringing up even the smallest particles and dust.

Also, because the opening in front of the cleaning head is large, the vacuum can pick up bigger debris. The fluffy brush roll easily pulls debris like cat litter and even large food pellets under it for the suction to pick up.

You can use this tool for up to 40 minutes in suction mode I.

It is ideal for keeping hard floor surfaces polished, and as a mom and pet owner, I love that it lets me skip mopping. The cleaning results are so good that there is no dust left for the mop after using this tool.

Combination tool – crevice tool and dusting brush combined

It’s great for dusting tables, countertops, windowsills, baseboards… you name it!

I used to wipe those surfaces with a microfiber cloth to get rid of the dust, but this is so much easier. Just use the vacuum with the brush, and the dust is gone!

Crevice tool -to reach those nooks and crevices

Narrow and long enough to fit under and between appliances, but wide enough to pick up debris like cat litter.

Might be too narrow for larger food pellets, but that is expected.

crevice tool combination tool Dyson v10

Mini motorized tool – excellent for picking up pet hair

This motorized brush roll tool is one of the best tools on the vacuum market.

It is very powerful, and it thoroughly cleans all kinds of upholstery fabrics and bedding materials.

You can use it to keep your couch, car seats, bed and carpeted stairs free of pet hair, dander, and dust.

A motorized tool is something that is good to have in every household, but especially in those that have kids and pets. It’s even better if you have a highly capable one.

You will be surprised how much dust and dirt it will pull up from your mattresses and couch.

Soft dusting brush – for dusting window screens and other delicate surfaces.

This dusting brush is wider and softer than the one on the combination tool.

You can use it to remove that dust on delicate surfaces before it is wafted into the air.

+ Drop-in-docking for easy access

One of the add-ons you get with this vacuum is the wall-mountable charging dock. It is what makes the use of this vacuum even more convenient.

You can attach the dock to any wall and keep the vacuum charged and within reach at all times.

This is one of the features which made me a fan of the Dyson stick vacuums.

Getting out the heavy corded vacuum and plugging it to a power outlet was just that added trouble that made me skip vacuuming and let the dirt accumulate.

When I got my first Dyson and it was always ready to be grabbed for a quick cleanup, it was a game changer for me. Because it was so easy to give the vacuum a quick spin around the house, suddenly my home was always in tip-top shape.

Add-ons available online - to add even more versatility

Dyson is one of those companies that keep improving their products and bringing innovations on the market.

Their vacuums are highly adaptable, and they have a wide variety of add-ons available if you have other specific cleaning needs.

If you have long-haired pets, you might want to add the tangle-free turbine tool.

Or, if you use the vacuum in your car, you might want to add a hose and other tools designed for that purpose.

Also, for owners of medium- and longhaired dogs – there is a mess-free grooming tool! How amazing is this?

Quick release Mini Motorized Tool

The adaptability is what makes Dyson stick vacuums worth the hefty price tag they come with.

Although the V10 is a lightweight stick vacuum, it is comparable to full upright vacuums in versatility and performance – and great attachments is a big part of why they are so capable.

Thick area rugs, plush carpeting, hardwood floors, beds, upholstered furniture, car, vents, blinds… you name it, and the vacuum has the right tool for you.

Questions that need to be answered

* Dyson v10 - what is all the hype about?

Dyson advertises the v10 vacuum as the “Only Vacuum You’ll Need.”

And that’s actually true for most people!

  • It has the strong suction and excellent performance, which means it can replace you upright or canister vacuum. On the other hand...
  • You can turn it into a handheld vacuum by just detaching the wand. It’s an adaptable all-around vacuum that can take care of all the vacuuming jobs that you come across.
  • It has strong suction, it’s lightweight and easy to use, and it has excellent attachments that allow you to use it on all kinds of surfaces from floor to ceiling.

Bottom line:

You can throw out that massive upright vacuum and get rid of the little dustbuster that never really managed to clean up anything.

The Dyson V10 has all the qualities and features you would want from your ideal vacuum. That’s what the hype is about.

* Dyson v10 - why do people say it’s overestimated and overpriced?

Sure, your Dyson comes with a hefty price tag, but good things don’t come cheap.

Often you’ll find, that when it comes to cleaning equipment, you want to buy functional, high-quality products that lessen your burden instead of adding to it.

Think about it.

Would you rather buy five cheap vacuums cleaners or just one high-quality one?

Alternatively, would you instead have an upright and a handheld vacuum separately or just one lightweight one to replace both?

Dyson products have always been about innovative solutions and taking the technology to the next level. All that research isn’t cheap. To get the best design and the best features you have to be ready to cough up some dough.

Just compare it to other products in the same category - Dyson V10 is better in every aspect. (And don’t believe Shark when they advertise their vacuum is better. That’s not really true when you look at the facts… you can read more about that here).

If you want a mid-range vacuum that does a pretty nice job, then you can have a look at the Shark ION F80 MultiFlex or Hoover REACT Pet Stick Vacuum. Both are great vacuums.

However, if you want THE BEST OF THE BEST, you should go with Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute.

* Dyson v10 vs v8 - why not just buy the cheaper V8?

The V10 is not just an upgraded version; it is a complete redesign.

It has a better battery, more powerful motor, larger dirt bin, and better tools.

You might be tempted to save some cash and to buy one of the earlier versions. However, keep in mind, that this is an investment for many years. When you divide the savings you make per each day you use the vacuum, is it still worth it?

Dyson is phasing out the V6 and V8 vacuums, so you might be able to get a good deal on one of the previous models (check it out here). Whether you want to do this or not is up to you.

I would always get the new version because it won’t get outdated as quickly.

But, people are different and if you think you might lean towards a V6 or V8, have a look at our review to see if they are what you are looking for.

Also, this table gives you an idea of what you are giving up.

Summing Up

All this hype might make you think we’re just trying to make a convincing sales pitch, but we’re not.

Dyson V10 actually is the top dog out of all the stick vacuums on the market right now.

Some other vacuums might be up there amongst the cream of the crop, but no other vacuum has better features. If the Dyson V10 is just too big of an investment for you, you could have a look at Dyson V8 or Shark ION MultiFlex.

But. If you want the best of the best, this is the one.

As a mother of three kids, two dogs, and a cat I can’t recommend this product highly enough. If my house was on fire and I had to choose three things to take with me, I would take my wedding ring, photos, and Dyson V10.

You might think I’m silly, but if you have kids and pets that shed you know how frustrating it can be to keep your home clean.

To recap, these are the five main reasons why v10 is the best stick vacuum out there right now:

  • Longest runtime
  • Strongest suction
  • High-quality materials
  • Most functional design
  • Best attachments and tools

For most homes it can actually be the only vacuum you’ll need.

Still not sure? Go ahead and read some user reviews to see what we are talking about.

FAQ on Dyson Vacuums

Do Dyson vacuums have a HEPA filter?

To qualify as HEPA filter by industry standards, an air filter must remove (from the air that passes through) 99.97% of particles that have a size greater-than-or-equal-to 0.3 µm.

For a HEPA filter to be effective, all the air must travel through the filter without none of it leaking past. This is referred to as a “sealed HEPA” or “true HEPA.”

Vacuum cleaners that do not have sealed systems might be called “HEPA,” but because of leaking all particles might not be filtered and can escape back to the air you breathe.

A sealed HEPA filter is beneficial for asthma and allergy sufferers because the HEPA filter traps allergens such as pollen, dander and dust mite feces which trigger symptoms.

The airtight gasket around the cyclones and pressurized rubber seal around the advanced filter mean the filtration system is fully sealed preventing any dust, allergens or bacteria from leaking back into the air. The system traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

So yes, Dyson V10 – like other Dyson vacuums - does have a HEPA filter.

How to clean a Dyson vacuum?

To clean your Dyson V10 follow these instructions

For a quick maintenance cleanup:

  • Empty and detach the dustbin
  • Wipe it with a damp cloth
  • Take out the filter and rinse it under water
  • Let the filter dry completely before placing it back in
  • Check the brush roll for tangled hair

Can I leave my Dyson V6 / V8/ V10 on charge all the time?

Yes.

The whole idea of a Dyson stick vacuum is that it is always charged and ready to go. It comes with a wall-mountable charging dock, which you should place in a convenient spot at your home.

I have mine mounted in the cleaning closet, which is close to the kitchen and the hallway – the two places where it is mostly used.

When you keep your Dyson in the charger, it is always easy to grab and ready for an immediate cleanup.

How much is the Dyson v10?

Dyson vacuums are often criticized for their high price point, and the new V10 is no exception.

Depending on the model you choose the price can go up to about 700 USD.

Reading Dyson vacuum reviews will tell you why they are more expensive than other products:

  • High-quality materials
  • Attention to detail and features in engineering
  • The thorough research behind innovations
  • Durability
  • Better features

What is your review of Dyson's Cyclone V10 - do you think its price point is justified?

After using the Dyson V10 as the only vacuum in a family home with three kids, two dogs, and a cat, I can certainly say my Dyson V10 has been worth every single cent.

I would be happy to pay the said price any day to get a highly functional vacuum cleaner that makes cleaning so much easier.

However, your situation might be different. What is your budget? Are you a neat freak like me? Would you rather invest in one high-quality vacuum or two mid-range ones?

What are some of the best vacuums by Dyson?

If, on the other hand, you are looking for the best upright from Dyson you should go for the Dyson Ball Animal 2. More about that product here.

Are there any vacuums as good as Dyson?

This is something we can’t answer definitely.

Many people praise Dyson vacuums because of their strong suction, high-quality build, and excellent features. However, ultimately you need to think about your vacuuming needs and to compare vacuums in the type category that fits your needs the best.

When you read Dyson vacuum reviews, you can understand why they are so popular.

People appreciate the fact, that they are durable appliances that are made to last.

They might be pricey, but that is because each detail is carefully designed and Dyson spends a lot of time researching new solutions and improving the existing technology.

Sometimes upper mid-range vacuums like the ones from Shark or lower mid-range products like those from Bissell might fit your needs better.

If you need to skimp on the features to find a vacuum that fits your budget, you should go for another brand than Dyson.

What is a cyclone vacuum cleaner?

A cyclone vacuum uses cyclones to speed up the air and to separate dust and dirt particles from the air before it is blown through the filter and back into the room.

The new Dyson V10 has a new design which allows the motor to spin at up to 125.000 rpm producing 79.000g G-force inside each of the 14 cyclones, which separates the dirt from the air.

As the cyclones narrow down the air flow accelerates from 45mph to 120mph creating centrifugal forces powerful enough to fling even pollen and bacteria into the bin.

Which vacuum cleaner has the best suction besides a Dyson?

It depends on what type of a vacuum you are looking for.

If you need a handheld vacuum, Dyson definitely has the strongest suction.
The same goes with stick vacuums – when you compare the maximum suction in the maximum mode.

When it comes to corded vacuums like uprights and canister vacuums, Dyson is still one of the vacuums with the strongest suction. Some professional vacuums reach a higher AW measurement, but for residential use, there is no need for stronger suction.

The Dyson Ball 2 vacuums are actually sometimes criticized for having too strong of a suction, so you won’t need to go any stronger than that.

To compare vacuums to each other, this is the strength of the suction for some popular Dyson vacuums:

  • Dyson Ball Animal 2: 270AW
  • Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2: 245AW
  • Dyson V6 / V7: 100AW
  • Dyson V8: 115AW
  • Dyson V10: 150AW

Can a Dyson vacuum be used as a blower?

No. It can only be used in the suction mode.
