Is Shark ION F80 Vacuum worth the money? – Let's find out!
[toc]
The newly upgraded Shark lightweight cordless stick vacuum F80 comes with a nice increase in the runtime and the same functional features their previous ION series stick vacuums boasted.
This vacuum is quickly gaining some excellent reviews, and we can totally see why.
The Shark company is known for its good price-quality ratio. They are not an expensive top-quality brand, but they do make reliable and durable machines that have innovative features. They are also known for continually upgrading their vacuums with better design and features.
Look:
This is a great product. It has all the features you need to make vacuuming easy and comfortable. Like all products, it has a couple of small shortcomings, but nothing that would make us question the value of the F80.
In this review, we will go through everything - the pros and the cons - so that you know exactly what you are buying.
Filtration
The Shark F80 has three filters that will keep your home clean by capturing dust, dust, pet hair and other nasty particles. And because the they are washable, you will save money by not needing to replace them every few months.
The vacuum has two pre-motor filters which are made of foam and felt. These filters are washable, and you should rinse them under cold water every month. Remember to let them dry completely before placing them back in.
The post-motor filter is also washable, and you should rinse it once every 9 months so that air flow won’t get restricted.
You should check the filters if the suction is low or the vacuum is not picking up dirt as it should. Also, never use soap to clean filters and always let them dry for at least 24 hours before placing them back in. The filters are not lifetime filters so you may need to replace them at some point. However, they are not expensive, and you can buy them online.
The filtration system is not sealed, and the filter is not a HEPA filter, but comes very close to that in performance. The system filters out dust, dander, and allergens to keep the indoor air clean and fresh.

Attachments
The Shark F80 has the amazing DuoClean feature we introduced above.
You can move from bare floor to carpets without having to change the cleaning head because Shark has combined both brush rolls into one highly functional attachment.
This feature makes vacuuming effortless:
The same cleaning head will give you a polished look on hard floor materials and a deep clean on carpets and rugs.
The softer brush roll is delicate, and it effectively removes both large piles of debris and small particles of dust. The other brush roll, on the other hand, digs into carpets and lifts up dirt, debris, and dust.
The cleaning head is quite sturdy, which enables excellent cleaning results but may make the F80 feel a bit heavier than it's actually is. It is very lightweight, but because a significant part of the weight is on the cleaning head, the weight distribution is not optimal. This is just something that users have noted and not really anything that would affect using the vacuum. And when you lift up the vacuum for above-floor cleaning, you will be using smaller attachments anyway.
The F80 comes with just two attachments: 8" Crevice Tool and the Upholstery tool. By including only the basic tools, Shark keeps the price of this vacuum reasonable and allows you to customize the set of tools to match your needs. You can add only the tools that you need, and you don't have to pay for the ones you don't.
Also:
The vacuum is quickly converted into a practical hand vacuum by detaching the wand. With all the add-ons available there is not an inch in your that will be left uncleaned!
Additional attachments include:
- 12” Crevice Tool: longer access to tight spaces
- 18” Flexi Crevice Tool: flexible crevice tool made of rubber
- Duster Crevice Tool: a combination of crevice tool and delicate dusting brush

- Pet Multi-Tool: 2-in-1 combination tool for dusting and removing pet hair
- Multi-Angle Dusting Brush: 5-position soft dusting brush for hard-to-reach spots
- Anti-Allergen Dust Brush: for fine dusting of delicate objects
- Wide Upholstery Tool: an extra wide tool for removing pet hair from fabrics and upholstery
- Upholstery Tool: picks up pet hair and debris from upholstery and other fabrics
- Motorized Pet Tool: removes persistent pet hair from carpets and upholstery
- Home & Car Detail Kit: an assortment of tools for cleaning your car
- Precision Duster: a flexible tube with a micro duster crevice tool for dusting delicate objects
- MultiFLEX® Under-Appliance Wand: for cleaning under hard to move appliances
